914-6 Conversion KMS Engine Management System 3.0L Engine Build
This project features a complete 3.0L engine build. We converted it to Euro 3.0 spec with factory Mahle 9.5-1 compression ratio pistons and cylinders. We then balanced the pistons and connecting rods, installed ARP head studs and rod bolts. We ran this engine on the dyno with PMO carburetors and it made 215 hp and 199 ft lbs torque.
We then installed KMS engine management system, individual throttle bodies and crank fire ignition and mapped the fuel, ignition, and cold start systems. The engine now makes 230 horsepower and 223 foot pounds of torque. That’s 15 hp and 24 ft lbs torque more than with the carburetors and 50 hp and 51 ft lbs torque more than when it was stock before we built it; this engine still has the stock cam shafts.
The end result is a very smooth, reliable street/track engine that is a turn key system. KMS has great cold start, throttle response, RPM pick up and works great with todays ever increasing ethanol fuels.
