This is a 2.5L race engine we built for HSR competition in a factory 1970 914-6. We set up and broke in this engine on our engine dyno.
All components were cleaned and fully evaluated, tested and measured. We upgraded the engine case, crankshaft, camshafts, rockers, connecting rods and oil pump. All crankcase and crankshaft oil passage plugs were removed for proper cleaning of all oil passages. We then installed new plugs and micro polished the crankshaft. The intermediate shaft was replaced, as well as the timing chains, ramps, tensioners and sprockets. New custom JE pistons were fitted to new genuine Mahle cylinders and installed using ARP head studs. The pistons were balanced, as well as the connecting rods end to end, crankshaft, crankshaft pulley, flywheel and pressure plate. The cylinder heads were resurfaced. We then ported and flowed the intake and exhaust ports and matched them to the intake manifolds. New valve guides were installed. All valve seats are cut on our Mira precision valve seat cutting machine from Switzerland. New performance valves were installed and valve lengths were set. New performance valve springs were pressure tested and spring heights set. Deck height and compression ratio were checked and adjusted. All bearing clearances were checked and recorded. Upon assembly, we measured and recorded all fitment and clearance specifications. A set of custom headers were fabricated and fitted.
Below are specifications of this engine after set up and break-in on our engine dyno.
Hp & Torque Specifications
288 hp at 8,100 rpm
222 ft. lbs. of torque at 6,100 rpm
We disassembled, cleaned, evaluated and rebuilt the transmission with new Porsche synchros, sliders, guide teeth, and bearings as needed.
The dyno test was performed on a Go Power Dynamometer with Land and Sea Data Acquisition Software. The Go Power dynamometer records in DIN hp.
