Above are highlights from various projects we’ve completed.
Specialty Cars is committed to providing passionate quality craftsmanship when restoring or preserving your Porsche. We pay attention to the originality and history of a car to ensure it’s heritage and character are preserved. From fitting convertible tops, body gaps and trim, to rebuilding ignition switches, pedal clusters and suspensions; each piece is it’s own restoration.
By design, the air cooled Porsche is built for performance and longevity. The foundation of any restoration or preservation is the structural integrity of the chassis; if proper fabrication is not carried out, anything beyond this point simply does not matter. We pay attention to the entirety of the project, from start to finish. Our restorations are fully functional works of art, built to be enjoyed for generations. We work with you and guide you in achieving your goals.
Preservation and Mechanical Restoration
Preserving a car in it’s original state, but rebuilding all mechanical components as new, ensuring original paints and finishes are preserved in the process. Underbody cleaning, disassembly for paint correction, polishing of chrome and aluminum is all done as needed. Rubber seals that have shrunk or cracked are replaced to keep water out and preserve the integrity of the car. Missing original date stamped parts are sourced; even correct manufacture stamped hardware. Any original cosmoline, paint marks, crayon markings and ink stamps are preserved, as these are all part of the history and character of the car as it was assembled at the factory. The interior is cleaned and preserved, any damaged materials or stitching beyond repair, are replaced with properly matched and aged material. All mechanical restorations are looked at as preservations, the only difference is the extent of detail you would like to achieve with your project.
Full Restoration
Rebuilding and preserving the authenticity as it was originally built and assembled by the factory, but with more hand crafted detail. The car is put onto a rotisserie and taken down to bare metal. Everything is pre-fit before paint and chrome work are completed. The texture and color of the undercoat is matched and overspray is reapplied as it was originally done. Missing original date stamped parts are sourced; even correct manufacture stamped hardware. All hardware and chrome are replated, the engine tin and suspension are powder coated. We even replicate the original sound deadening. Original paint marks, crayon markings and ink stamps are all replaced as original, preserving the history and character of the car as it was assembled at the factory.
